Equality in the workplace

The Company’s values are inclusive of the principles of equality under the law of the land and the following steps will be implemented in the due process of recruitment.

A very familiar topic in Australia and for that matter worldwide is gender equality, and more specifically in this blog post is the rights of women in the workplace to receive the same pay as men for the same role. More and more now companies are looking at it as an agenda and are setting policies and procedures in place to try and achieve 100% parity across the range of employees.

The national plebiscite into marriage equality has highlighted another area outside of the workplace in many respects that needs attention. The evolution of equality between men and woman in the workforce is being tackled first hand my management with a predefined task.

(a) Understand people as individuals.

Listen to each applicant carefully and seek their views on the values expressed by the Company in terms of equality and diversity. Prospective employees often hold views counter to the principles of equality and it is preferred to establish such prior to employment.

(b)The person conducting the process shall not be someone likely to work with the applicant. This step removes any bias in the process.

Equality is Pay Parity regardless of gender.

The strength of this approach will be measured not in numbers represented as diversified but in quality outcomes because of diverse thinking.
